The VIPEr Fellows project is supported by a 5-year grant from the National Science Foundation’s Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (IUSE) program. A primary project goal is to develop, test, and refine a flexible, foundation-level inorganic chemistry course.
The grant will support three cohorts of twenty faculty who will each develop their own “VIPEr-ized” foundation-level inorganic chemistry. Through classroom observations, analysis of student work, surveys of students, and interviews with faculty, we will generate data on how changes in the classroom affect student learning, interest, and motivation. The project will also investigate how IONiC may encourage the adoption of evidence-based classroom practices.
We will continue our summer faculty development workshops, where we develop new learning objects, grow the community, and have a lot of fun!
