It is hard for me to believe that five years ago I was writing up a manuscript for submission to a special issue of Polyhedron focused on undergraduate research. Jared Paul of Villanova University and Rob LaDuca of Michigan State served as guest editors for this issue. Their initial goal was an issue with around 25 papers. They shattered that goal putting together a collection of 63 papers!

Jared recently informed me that there is going to be another special issue marking five years since the first was released in 2016. Unfortunately for Jared, I will be stepping in to help out as an assistant editor for this anniversary issue.

Our goal remains the same, 25 papers, but we certainly hope we are able to top the 63 in the previous issue. The deadline for submission will be January 2021 with actual publication happening later in the year.

Consider this the open invitation to the IONiC community to submit your work to this anniversary issue. As this issue is highlighting undergraduate research, having undergraduate co-authors on submissions is highly encouraged.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Jared.

I contributed to the last issue and it was a great issue of papers! I'll try to see if I can submit one in time for this issue...

Is the submission deadline early Jan 2021 or the last day of the month?   I and a co-teaching/mentoring colleague are hoping to get an unexpected "side project" from this spring's "pivot" complete and written up in time to submit.
