A colleague and I from USNA are organizing a symposium at the Fall ACS meeting in Washington DC focused on Assessment Instruments for the ACS-accredited degree program. Our goal is to share ideas for assessment of student learning outcomes in the chemistry major. See ACS website for degree guidelines: https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/about/governance/committees/training/acs-guidelines-supplements.html

We thought the VIPEr community would be a good place to solicit contributions as many of us may also be involved in our department's/institution's assessment efforts. I hope some of you will consider contributing to our symposium!

Please see the symposium title and abstract below for more information. A reminder that abstracts are due on March 27!

Title: Assessment Instruments for the ACS-Accredited Degree Program

Abstract:
This symposium will highlight tools created by faculty at a variety of institutions that assess student learning outcomes. Individual and/or departmental efforts to assess learning outcomes that map to bachelor's degree program guidelines as delineated by the ACS Committee on Professional Training are especially welcome. Presenters will describe the process of designing the original assessment instruments, present analysis and interpretation of student performance from those instruments, and discuss strategies for adapting instruments to degree programs at other institutions.
