We are excited to announce our next VIPEr summer workshop!

Our focus is changing slightly from past workshops, but we will still follow our successful model of having (mostly) PUI/teaching faculty interact directly with primarily research R1 faculty to build content pieces for the classroom based on their research.

Our speaker this summer will be Nicolai Lehnert, from UM-AA (http://www.umich.edu/~lehnert/). Professor Lehnert's work bridges the fields of bioinorganic, bioorganometallic and biomimetic chemistry. This workshop will concentrate on how to use results from his research to teach structure and bonding.

This workshop will be held in Dearborn, MIfrom June 20-23, 2018.

Our workshops have proven to be a valuable professional development experience for past attendees. If you'd like to apply please fill in the application form contained at the following link.

We'll keep you plenty busy for the duration of the workshop, but you may want to extend your stay. Dearborn is minutes from downtown Detroit (currently one of Lonely Planet's top10 cities to visit https://tinyurl.com/yaac6zla), and from TheHenryFord.org. Dearborn is easy to get to by planes, trains, or automobiles. We will provide housing, but you're on your own for travel.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

We've extended the deadline to April 15th!

Hi Kyle,

I just submitted an application, and I would love to attend. However, I realize now that I will be on travel. I will be interested in recieving the information from the workshop, since I will not be able to attend. I will also be interested in future workshops.

This looks very interesting, but do you have more details? What are the costs, etc.?

There is no registration fee.

We pay for your hotel and for most food, but unfortunately, we can't cover travel costs.  We hope that our participants are able to ask their departments for some support since this is a professional development opportunity.

If it helps in convincing a ept chair or Dean to support it, there will be a tangible published product at the end of the workshop in the form of at least one LO with you listed as an author.
