Advances in Inorganic Teaching Symposium - ACS Salt Lake City

Submitted by Keith Walters / Northern Kentucky University on Fri, 09/12/2008 - 17:21

Hello all,

Just wanted to let you know that there will be a "home" for inorganic education at ACS next spring. I'm organizing a symposium on "Advances in Teaching Inorganic Chemistry" symposium cosponsored by the CHED and INOR divisions. Hopefully there will be lots of interest in the community for us to share more thoughts and best practices for teaching the central science of the central science. It would be great for VIPEr to be represented there as well!

Posting attachments that contain structure

Submitted by Barbara Reisner / James Madison University on Wed, 07/16/2008 - 15:17

We've moved the discussion of posting attachments out of the "Step by Step - How to Contribute a Learning Object to VIPEr" document to a forum because the community uses many different structure visualization programs.  This post contains some general comments.  We haven't figured out the best way to do things yet so any suggestions that you have will be valuable to the entire community.

Focus the Nation

Submitted by Hilary Eppley / DePauw University on Mon, 11/19/2007 - 06:24
Is anyone else doing Focus the Nation this year? It is a nationwide teach-in designed to promote awareness about global climate change and is happening at the end of January. I was wondering if anyone had any interesting ideas about inorganic chemistry topics... DePauw is doing it, and I am thinking I might do something about using electrochemical storage of alternative energy to generate power during off peak times.
