Hello! Maia Popova (https://chem.uncg.edu/person/popova/) and I (https://www2.chem.wisc.edu/users/srpazicni) are putting together an NSF IUSE proposal to investigate student learning of molecular symmetry and how classroom practices influence this learning. We would greatly appreciate if VIPEr members would consider one or both of the following requests:
1) Reply to this thread and briefly describe the instructional decisions you've made when designing a classroom/learning environment for the teaching of introductory symmetry concepts (symmetry elements, operations, point groups, etc.); and
2) Reply to me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would be interested in being involved in our study, should it be funded. Participation would include interviewing you, capturing video/audio and artifacts of your inorganic chemistry classroom practice when teaching symmetry, and interviewing/surveying your students.
